Description
The Shoji Sideboard in solid ash wood with sliding doors introduces a warmer, more enveloping presence, where clean lines meet a deep, expressive finish. The Japandi inspiration remains at its core, here interpreted with a stronger sense of materiality and character.
Developed in collaboration with Charlotte Stier, the Shoji Sideboard reflects a careful balance between design and construction, where each detail is conceived to be both functional and visually coherent.
The burgundy finish enhances the natural grain of the ash, keeping it fully visible and turning the surface into a rich, tactile element. The colour is deep yet transparent, interacting with light and space to create a refined and contemporary atmosphere.
The sliding doors with wooden frame and satin glass panels define the identity of the piece while ensuring ease of use. Their smooth movement allows for a flexible and discreet interaction, making this solid wood sideboard with sliding doors both practical and visually light.
Inside, the layout is designed for everyday use: on each side, two compartments house a total of six solid ash drawers, crafted with traditional dovetail joints at both front and back, ensuring strength and durability. The fronts feature integrated finger pulls, while concealed Blum runners with full extension and soft-close system provide a smooth and silent experience.
The two central open compartments introduce a lighter, more architectural element, with glass shelves and integrated warm LED lighting, dimmable via remote control, designed to highlight objects and add depth.
The top and base, both made of solid ash, feature a distinctive construction detail developed as part of the design: they are formed by joining two boards connected through an internal wooden strip inserted into a dedicated groove. This creates a subtle shadow line, visible also within the open compartments, expressing the construction logic of the piece.
Designed as a solid wood sideboard for contemporary living spaces, the Shoji Sideboard in burgundy combines function, craftsmanship and design sensitivity, offering a warm and sophisticated presence within the interior.
